Questions and Answers
Over the years we have been asked many questions. There’s no doubt you will have many of your own therefore we have created this section to attempt to answer them (including the questions you never thought about!). If you do have any questions that aren’t covered here then please contact us and we promise to get back to you as soon as possible
I don’t see any prices on your website, how much do you charge?
We have created a page where you can get some more information on our prices. Please to go there now!
How old are you and how long have you been a DJ?
Jez is 35 and has been a DJ now for over 7 years. He has worked at a huge number of parties over the years and has gained a vast amount of knowledge, confidence and experience in that time.
Do You Have Good Equipment?
There is nothing worse than turning up at a party and hearing poor quality & distorted sound coming from a DJ’s speakers. On top of that, everything looks tatty and not well looked after. We love our equipment! We have invested a lot of money in it, we take care of it and make sure that it is maintained properly by qualified technicians.
What Sort Of Lights Do You Have?
Lighting has come a long way since the 1970’s. We don’t use rope lights, spinning Police-style beacons, traffic lights or light boxes. We use an intelligent system where all the lights talk to each other and create a fantastic light show for your benefit. We’re also able to select colours and moods to reflect the occasion.
Do You Use Strobe Lights?
Our lighting effects are capable of producing a strobe effect which is nowhere near as intense as a dedicated strobe light. If you have friends and family who are particularly sensitive to fast moving projected images and colours we can provide an alternative lighting system if required.
Do You Use Smoke/Haze Effects?
Most venues do not allow us to use smoke machines as they can set off fire alarms. Instead, we have invested in a professional haze machine which allows us to create the effect of smoke, without the worry of the fire brigade turning up.
Is Your Equipment Safe?
Yes! All of our equipment, including the cables, have been tested to strict electrical safety standards. You can find more information on that by
Do You Have Back Up Equipment?
Rather than spend money on cheap imported equipment from China we prefer to invest in quality equipment, Our equipment is extremely reliable however we do have access to backup equipment should it be required.
What Will You Need At The Venue?
We require at least two, unshared 13 amp power sockets and a stage area or other area set aside for us. We require an area at least 3m wide by 2m deep with a minimum height of 2.5m. For parties hosted inside a Marquee we have a special requirements leaflet which is available on request. If you are worried that we will not fit in a space, please get in touch!
Our venue has a sound limiter, is that a problem?
No. Some venue’s are required by law to have a sound limiter therefore we are more than happy to work in a venue with one fitted.
How loud do you play your music?
We have created a page where you can get some more information on volume. Please to go there now!
Can We Use Your Microphone For Speeches?
Yes you can, simply tell us before your party and we will make sure that there is a microphone there for you to use.
How chatty are you on the microphone? I don’t want to hear corny jokes all night!
We have a special page with an answer to this question. Please to go there now!
My mate, he’s a DJ, can he use your equipment too?
Unfortunately no, however
Are You A “Laptop” or “iPod DJ”?
Yes and No! We currently use a laptop to program our lightshows. It also acts as a backup system should our main players stop working. We do not use iPods to DJ with.
What Sort Of Music Will Be Played At My Party?
As well as playing all of the popular favourites we can accommodate your own personal requests and those from your guests. If you would like to choose a special theme for your party such as a 70’s or 80’s night for example, we will play music that is appropriate for that theme. Of course, you are more than welcome to tell us in advance of songs you DON’T want to hear during the party.
What If I Request Music You Do Not Have?
My music library is quite large and does include the most commonly requested songs. If you let us know in advance of any particular song you want us to play that we do not have, then every effort will be made in order to obtain that track or your party. If you have these songs in your own collection, you are more than welcome to bring these with you on CD or Memory Stick.
Can I E-Mail You A Playlist Of Songs?
Of course! We often receive pages and pages of requests for parties and whilst we do our best to play them all, not all of the requests can be played. Four hours of music works out to be between 50 and 60 songs, include in that time any requests given by your guests as well as songs that we choose to play. It’s worth remembering that if you are compiling a list of songs, try and not make them too specialist and also keep in mind that not everyone may want to dance to them!
What Time Will You Arrive At My Party?
Punctuality is our primary concern. We normally arrive at least an hour and a half before your function is due to start. If the party is to take place in the same room where you are having a meal in the afternoon, space permitting, we suggest you take advantage of our early-set-up service to make the transition between the meal and the disco a little easier.
Do You Charge A Fee For Setting Up Earlier In The Day?
If an early set-up is requested when you initially ask for a quote, the early set-up is already included in your price. If you choose to add an early set-up after you have received our quote an extra charge of £30 applies. If you require us to be “on hand” during the day to play music at certain times of the day then please contact us about our all-inclusive “day rate”.
Do You Charge A Travel Fee?
Whilst most other DJ’s charge a “per-mile” based fee, we do not. All travel costs are included in the price you pay.
How Do I Confirm My Disco With You?
We will send you an agreement in the post and will hold your date for up to 14 days. To avoid disappointment, your signed agreement must be returned to us within this period otherwise we cannot guarantee availability.
Do We Have To Pay A Deposit To Secure The Date?
To absolutely guarantee your date, you are required to pay a non-refundable reservation fee which is detailed on your quote. We ask that the reservation fee is returned with your signed agreement.
When And How Will The DJ Want Paying?
The final balance must be paid no later than 2 weeks prior to your party. This can be paid by cheque or bank transfer.
Will You Carry On After The Agreed Finishing Time?
Yes. Extra time is charged by the hour with 1 hour being the minimum. Extra hours before midnight are charged after midnight at £75 per hour. Any extra hours must be cleared with the venue manager first. Many venues are only licensed to a certain time therefore it is best to check in advance.
What Will The DJ Wear?
Unlike other DJ’s who may DJ in a t-shirt, jeans and scruffy trainers, we always wear a smart black suit, shirt, tie, shoes ect, we also have traditional black & white dinner suit, or alternatively can dress down on request....
We hope that we have answered any questions you may have. If you have a question that is not answered above, please
